When a sweet pup’s life was hanging by a thread, the volunteers at Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue jumped into action…
It was February and there had just been a 3-day blizzard. Winnie was spotted frozen in the deep snow in a wooded division between a section of the Tans Canada Highway. The Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue received the call for help. Within moments three volunteers rushed to rescue the dog from the deep snow. It was a stroke of luck that she was spotted. Winnie had been nested there for days and was too scared and cold to walk. Her matted hair also indicated she had not been taken care of for a long period of time.
Thanks to the hard work, quick action, and dedication of the volunteers at The Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue, Winnie’s life was saved and she was adopted out to a happy home. (Her sweet after picture is below!) Winnie’s story is one of many to come from this rescue serving the southeast region of Manitoba, Canada.
The Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue works diligently to place homeless companion animals into loving homes. The rescue provides full vetting, including emergency care for mild to severe injuries, and standard care including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
They’re on a mission to provide care, comfort, and compassion to homeless and abandoned companion animals while engaging the hearts, hands, and minds of our community in order to promote the humane treatment of people and animals through education, advocacy, and services. They’re growing each and every year going from 175 adoptions in 2019 to 301 in 2021!
We love supporting our rescues near and far. If you happen to be in the Steinbach area, be sure check them out! They’re always looking for more fosters and donations to keep their rescue work thriving. Thanks, SAAR for sharing your and Winnie’s story as well as the amazing rescue work you do each and every day!
